Don’t send your electronic waste to landfill!
Your local Council Waste Management Facility now accepts the following items for recycling:
- Televisions (whole undamaged units only)
- Computers and associated products including:
- Computer processing units and towers;
- Monitors and peripherals;
- Notebooks and laptops;
- Printers, fax machines and scanners
- CD drives;
- Hard drives;
- Keyboards;
- Mice;
- Networking equipment;
- Cables.
The following products are also accepted:
- CD and DVD players;
- Stereo systems (including speakers);
- Kitchen appliances;
- Power tools;
- Microwave ovens;
- Ceiling fans;
- Hand held electronic items;
- Mobile phones;
- Portable electronic motors;
- All light fixtures and fittings (no glass lamp shades or covers)
Conditions apply:
- Only those products listed are accepted.
- Acceptance of products for recycling is at the sole discretion of the Council staff.
- Some products that are NOT ACCEPTED:
- vacuum cleaners;
- VHS Tapes;
- Damaged televisions and monitors (which are deemed to be hazardous), minimal damage is accepted, but if crushed it will not be accepted;
- Fluoro tubes and globes;
- Any other products which are not listed in the Accepted List.
It is the donors responsibility to ensure than any confidential data is removed from the computer hard-drive prior to disposal.
Locations by Council area
Cessnock
Electronic waste (or e-waste) can be taken to the Cessnock Waste Management Centre, Old Maitland Road, East Cessnock, during normal operating hours (free for domestic customers). Ask us how to get a discount voucher when you drop materials off at the Community Recycling Centre.
The following electronic equipment is accepted:
TVs and DVDs
computers, laptops, monitors and printers
CD drives, hardrives and cables
Please note: Other electrical items are not accepted as electronic waste.
Lake Macquarie
Residents may access the free eWaste drop off bin located at Awaba Waste Management Facility, 60 Wilton Road, Awaba, during normal operating hours.
*No charge for eWaste only loads, mixed waste loads will attract normal disposal fees.
Alternately eWaste will be collected for recycling during LMCC bulk waste pick-ups. Please place the eWaste in a separate pile. For further information regarding bulk waste pick-ups, please contact Council.
Maitland
Residents may access the free eWaste drop off bin located at Mount Vincent Waste Disposal Site, 109 Mount Vincent Road, East Maitland, during normal operating hours.
*No charge for eWaste only loads, mixed waste loads will attract normal disposal fee’s.
Singleton Council
Residents may access the free eWaste drop off bin located at Singleton Council Waste Depot on Dyrring Road Singleton, during normal operating hours
*No charge for eWaste only loads, mixed waste loads will attract normal disposal fee’s.
