Cessnock Recycling Statistics
Currently there are over 55,000 people in the LGA, with HRR servicing 21,412 homes at June 2016 every fortnight.
Over the 18 years of service Cessnock residents have recycled 74,645 tonnes of domestic packaging and saved 205,703 cubic metres of landfill space. This has reduced Co2 emissions equal to taking 8,944 cars off the road permanently. Saved enough electricity to power 5,756 homes for a year and saved enough water to provide a year’s supply to 13,219 people!
In the year from 2015 – 2016 Cessnock residents recycled 5,013 tonnes of accepted material through the kerbside service and free drop off collection point at the Cessnock Waste Management Facility which was an additional 144 tonnes from the previous year. Unaccepted material was up by 11 tonnes to 115 tonnes.
On average each home in the Cessnock LGA recycled 234.11 kilos per annum or 9 kilos per collection.
A total of 133,982 kilos of eWaste was recycled in Cessnock during 2015 -2016. This is a reduction of 61,535 kilos on the previous year with fewer older style heavy televisions being presented. Since April 2009 a total of 1,006,666 kilos of eWaste has been recycled.
